Worn surfaces such as keyways, tapers, threads, etc. may be restored by welding and subsequent machining operations. Application of hard chrome plating or flame-spray to surfaces, followed by grinding and polishing is commonly used to restore parts to original dimensions and surface finish while imparting desirable surface hardness, anti-wear and low friction properties.

If the function of the part doesn’t require finishing operations after chrome plating, a thin layer of chromium may be applied to the surface of the part without subsequent machine work. This type of plating, sometimes referred to as flash-plating, is frequently used to inhibit wear and prolong the life of the part. An example of this application is for protection of machinery parts subjected to abrasive slurries. We apply hard chrome to varying parts to serve a variety of industries.
